Extras are components that give the player special abilities in all the LEGO Star Wars video games. Extras can be unlocked by either finding Red Bricks in a level or entering a cheat code. The player may automatically start out with some extras unlocked. When an extra is unlocked, it can be purchased for use in the level-select room, from the in-game store (e.g. Wuher in Mos Eisley Cantina). Once unlocked, extras can be accessed by pausing the game to the options menu, and selecting the corresponding ability in the Extras Menu. In the Extras Menu, any extras that the player has purchased can be turned on or off at any time. There is no limit to the amount of extras that can be turned on at once.

Trivia[]
- All of the score multipliers can be used together, which can be easier in getting the maximum number of studs.
- The order of unlocking each Red Brick corresponds to the order of each level, except Red Bricks #35 and #36 which are unlocked on their respective opposite levels.
- After unlocking all 160 Gold Bricks then building the unidentified object that releases everlasting studs, all (remaining) Red Bricks will be unlocked for free.
- All the extras are unavailable while playing any of the Super Story Missions, Bounty Hunter Missions, and Blue Minikit Challenges.
- Some of, but not all of the extras are unavailable in the Character Bonus Missions, Minikit Bonus Missions, LEGO City, and New Town. Most of these are the ones that have something to do with the studs.
